FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Every dog is different, and it's completely natural to have a few questions before deciding whether home boarding is right for them.
Here you'll find answers to some of the things we are most often asked. And if there's anything else you'd like to know, just get in touch — we will be happy to talk it through.
BEFORE YOUR DOG STAYS
Yes. All fist-time guests complete a trial overnight stay before their first booking. It helps us make sure your dog feels comfortable in our home, settles well without you and is happy living alonside the other dogs.
Yes. Every new guest starts with a Meet & Greet. It gives your dog the chance to explore our home, meet us, Flo and Kiko, and gives us time to learn about their routine, personality and individual needs.
Not necessarily — and that's why gettin to know each other first is so important. Dogs staying with us need to be comfortable around other dogs, reliably house-trained, able to settle in a home environment and comfortable staying overnight away from their owner. We'll talk through all of this together at the Meet & Greet.
Yes. Dogs staying with us need to be up-to-date with the vaccinations and preventative treatments we require for home boarding, including kennel cough vaccination and appropiate worm and flea treatment. Before their stay, we'll ask you to provide the relevant vaccination and treatment records, together with your dog's veterinary details and an emergency contact. We will keep the records we're requiered to hold as part of the regulations.
DURING THEIR STAY
We keep numbers small. Alonside Flo and Kiko, we may welcome up to three guest dogs into our home.
As much as reasonably possible. We'll ask about their normal feeding, walks, sleeping habits and the little things they're used to at home so wee can make their stay feel familiar.
We want your dog's bedtime to feel as familiar as possible. If they're used to sleeping in the bedroom with their owners, that's is absolutelyfine with us — Flo and Kiko sleep in our bedroom too.We have spare dog beds available, although you're welcome to bring your dog's own bed or bedding. Having something familiar from home can help them settle. If your dog normally sleeps in a crate and you'd like to keep that routine during their stay, please bring their usual crate so they can sleep in the space they already know.
Please bring enough of your dog's usual food for their stay. Keeping to the food they know helps maintain their normal routine and, importantly, helps avoid unnecessary upset tummies.Your dog will also need their usual collar and lead or harness. During their stay, we'll also use one of our identifiction collars with our contact details and a tracker for added peace of mind.If your dog needs medication, please bring enough for their stay together with clear instructions on when and how it should be given.
Absolutely. We know how lovely it is to see that your dog is happy and enjoying their stay, so we'll keep you updated with photos and messages.Updates can be shared privately with you through WhatsApp and, where you've give us permission, photos may also be shared on our Facebook or Instagram pages. We'll always respect the level of consent you've given us for sharing photos of your dog.
If your dog needs oral or topical medication during their stay, we can administer it provided you supply the medication together with clear instructions. We don't administer injections. If an injection is required during a stay, this would be carried out by a veterinary. We also have canine first-aid provision for minor incidents, but this does not replace veterinary care. If we are concerned about your dog'd health or wellbeing during their stay, we'll seek appropriate veterinary advice or treatment.
Your dog's wellbeing will always come first. If they become unwell or have an accident during their stay, we'll assess the situation, contact you or your emergency contact as soon as possible and, where necessary, seek veterinary advice or treatment. We also have canine first-aid supplies for minor incidents, but this does not replace veterinary care. Before your dog's first stay, we will make sure we have your veterinary details, an emergency contact and the necessary consent so we can act in your dog's best interest if you cannot be reached.
